Consensus 67:
Advancing Strong Citizen Initiatives

Beyond Partisanship. Towards Consensus.

Consensus 67 is a non-partisan, homegrown movement to give power back to its people. We want to AMEND STATE CONSTITUTIONS so that citizens (not just politicians) can propose new laws or reject bad laws on the ballot.

To keep things stable and fair, we require a 67% supermajority (two-thirds of the vote) for these measures to pass. This ensures that only the best, most broadly supported ideas become the lawS of OUR STATES.

Thomas Jefferson was the first American founder to formally propose a legislative referendum. He wanted a requirement that certain laws passed by the VIRGINIA General Assembly be submitted to the people for final approval before becoming permanent. This was flatly rejected, as the delegates preferred a "pure" representative system THEY could control.
